Bioterrorism + flesh eating zombies + CDC enforced quarantine + realistic POV camera = Awesome
Out this week on DVD and ready for your weekend is Quarantine. The film follows a film crew that rides along with the Los Angeles Fire Department to a medical emergency. They are met with something they haven’t seen before. Before they know it, they are locked in by the police and the U.S. Govt… they have been quarantined.
If you liked 28 Weeks Later and Dawn of the Dead, you can’t miss Quarantine.
The film is shot in the first person point of view. You are the camera. There are times when you feel like you are really there… you feel like looking over the shoulder of the person blocking the camera. The trailers show the CDC finding the camera later on after the fact, but the movie itself does not do that. You are right there with them…right now. You are not just watching a video of what happened yesterday or last year like in Cloverfield or Blair Witch.
Quarantine is set in an old L.A. apartment building with tight halls and small apartments. The movie gets darker and darker as the lights go out… with only the on camera video light to light the way through the dark.
And of course… everyone starts turning one by one and no one knows exactly what is going on. Everyone is out to get you: the rabid zombies and the CDC if you try to escape. You get sucked into the movie and are totally immersed. It’s like walking through a horror maze on Halloween with something coming up on you at every corner.
Quarantine is believable and plays on bioterrorism fears. It’s something that could actually happen.
Quarantine is one the best horror movies to come out in a while. Don’t miss it.

Samurai sword wielding, bikini clad, zombie fighting… that is Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad. D3 Publisher of Japan is bringing an English version of Onechanbara to the XBOX 360. A version is also on the Wii known as Onechanbara Bikini Zombie Slayers. The game follows the exploits of the Bikini Samurai Squad as it saves the day from hordes of zombies. You can control three different characters. The first is Aya. She wears a bikini, cowboy hat, and boots and wields a samurai sword. The second character is Saki. She’s your typical schoolgirl in uniform…only with a big, big sword. The third is Ama. Ama is your typical policewoman type of character…she uses guns instead of swords. Each of them has their own special moves. This game has a decent sized cult following in Japan… so decent that they actually made a movie out of it in 2008. More to Come!
