Huge 1/32 F-14 Tomcat Cutaway Model

Posted by admin On February - 11 - 2009

Famemaster has a big 1/32 F-14 Tomcat. Not only is it an F-14, it’s a cutaway version revealing the internal construction. The official name is: 4D Vision Vehicles Cutaway 4D Puzzle Toy- f-14A Jolly Rogers Cutaway Model. First off, the the f-14 is from the famed VF-84 Jolly Rogers squadron which sports the skull and crossbones mascot. The model comes pre-painted with 167 pieces… it sounds like you have to put it together.???

The cutaway parts of the model are really cool. Cutaway sections include the gun section that you can pull off to reveal the big Vulcan machine gun, wing cross sections, the sweeping wing section with the mechanism that sweeps the wings forward and back, and the engine section. It has a clear engine to reveal all the fan blades inside .

Click on Thumbnails for an animated look at all of it’s features.

Action details for the model include wings that sweep forward and back, retractable landing gear, hinged landing gear bay doors, opening canopy, retractable landing hook, and a speed brake that raises and lowers. This model also includes some unique features not found on other pre-painted/pre-assembled models. One thing that makes this thing unique is the nose cone that raises up to reveal the radar. Other unique things are the extending ladder for the crew, opening and closing footholds, and removable ejection seats. A pilot and copilot are included. Air to air missiles are also included.

This is a great model. It’s big at 1/32 scale.  It has an accurate paint job with the famous skull and crossbones. Revealing construction and unique features make this one to pick up for any aviation fan. I have been waiting for a big F-14 to come out…hopefully by BBI or Forces of Valor… no luck yet. Recommendations for future releases include different squadrons,  maybe dirty it up a bit and paint those clean panel lines. They can also include afterburners that are opened up ,too. It would also be nice to see newer Bombcat versions with air to ground bombs like JDAMs and GBUs.

The 4D Vision Vehicles Cutaway 4D Puzzle Toy- f-14A Jolly Rogers Cutaway Model is priced at around $184. It’s currently backorder ordered at HLJ.

1/32 Diecast Blue Thunder Helicopter

Organic Hobby is distributing a 1/32 Diecast Blue Thunder helicopter from the 1980s movie Blue Thunder.

First of all, it looks really great. Second, it’s diecast. Other features include a pilot figure, opening cockpit, and spinning rotor blades and gun. My main problem just looking at the pics is the plain looking cockpit interior.

The Blue Thunder helicopter is made by Dream Machine Project and is available for preorder now for around $160… pretty good for a diecast anything this size. It looks like production is limited, so pick it up if you want it before it’s too late.

Crazy Gundam Tank Model Kit from Bandai

Posted by admin On February - 6 - 2009

Bandai has a 1/35 conceptual tank from the Gundam universe out. The kit is called the 1/35 EFGF M61A5 Main Batle Tank “Semovente” Phantom Element from the U.C. Hard Graph model series. The tank is from the second episode of the Mobile Suit Gundam MS Igloo: The Hidden One Year War. The concept tank looks like it has a little bit of Bradley and a little bit of Abrams… only a lot bigger and with two huge guns. Look at how small the figures look compared to the tank. The kit itself appears to stand on its own against detailed Dragon and Tamiya kits. It comes with the usual stuff like photetched parts, but has some cool stuff not found in your average kit like tracks made of flexible resin that are linked with actual metal pins and wire cable. It also looks like it has at least three figures. The kit is out now for around $100.

2,000 Gundam products over at Amazon.com. Check it out.

Lamborghini Reventon Diecast Car!

Posted by admin On January - 17 - 2009

Bburago has released its Lamborghini Reventon in both 1:18 scale and 1:24 scale. Both are painted in the flat black Reventon color. The big 1:18 version is part of Bburago’s  Diamond Collezione…top of the line. The hood, trunk, and doors open and the wheels turn. The engine looks realistic enough with silver accents for the Lamborghini logo. The Reventon wheels look faithful. This is not like the old days when Bburago made all their cars with only one style of wheel. Everything is decently detailed.  You can pick up the 1:18 and 1:24 version here.

Check out this  huge Batmobile on it’s way from Hot Toys. It’s 1/6 scale and made to fit a 12-inch Batman figure. The massive Batmobile is 29″ long, 18.5″ wide, and 11″ high! The headlights light up. The cockpit opens up to put the Batman figure inside, and the breaking flaps move. The cockpit has a cool HUD display and a even a passenger seat! The tires look sick and the afterburner looks real.

This thing has been in the works for a while. It won’t be long till you can get your hands on one. The batmobile is available for  preorder  now with an expected delivery date of May, 2009.

Also check out the Batman figure a few posts back.
