The rut is over. There has been a real void these last few years in the flight sim category. This upcoming game may make up for lost time. Tom Clancy, famous for Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, takes the action to the skies in the upcoming flight sim Tom Clancy’s HAWX (High Altitude Warfare Experimental). All combat sim and first person shooter shooter fans shouldn’t miss out on this one. This new sim looks like it will go beyond the previous console flight sims like Ace Combat 6 and Over G Fighters. The game features a lot of real aircraft that are in service now and some that will be in the future. Screenshots have revealed that the U.S./NATO aircraft inventory includes warplanes such as the F-22 Raptor, f-35 Joint Strike Fighter, F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Falcon, F-117 Stealth Fighter, Av-8 Harrier, A-10 Warthog, Eurofighter Typhoon, the French Rafale, the British Jaguar, and the Swedish Saab-39 Grippen. The usual Russian Migs and Sukhois are present including the Su-47 Berkut.

The developers are claiming to bring first-person squadron combat to the skies. Features include an Enhanced Reality System, which provides the player with a high tech awareness whats going on. I guess it’s the pilot version of the advanced warfighter in-helmet info. The game also has really good graphics. The planes are detailed, the environments look lush, and the effects look realistic. It would be cool if we can use lots realistic squadron markings and nose art. The warthog has it. Will there be realistic squadron tail markings/mascots for the f/18s and f-14s?
