Masamune Shirow Cowgirl PVC: Getty UP!

Posted by admin On February - 8 - 2009

2008oct02195509_2118

The cowgirl, Juliona Trans,  PVC is coming out soon.

The figure is based on the Masamune Shirow book cover for “Wild Wet West” and was sculpted by Cerberus Project. Masumune Shirow is famous for his Ghost in the Shell Series.

Juliona Trans sits on a big bag of money while holding two big guns and smokes a cigar. Her cowboy hat and cigar are removeable and she has four guns in all. A big horseshoe backdrop completes the figure.

A few things missing that are on the cover but not on figure is the shotgun in the back and the gold coins…but it’s ok… The excellent translation from illustration to three-dimensional figure makes up for it. It looks just like the illustration.

Check out anime/manga PVC figures and statues over at Amazon.

The paintjob is also great. The leather really looks like leather and the metal really looks like metal. The figure is 1/6 from the Good Smile Company. Juliana Trans is a great figure for any Masamune Shirow fan. Watch for this figure to hit U.S. stores in February/March.

Vampy Goth: Moka Akashiya Awakened Version.

Posted by admin On February - 8 - 2009

From Good Smile comes this vampy goth PVC from the anime Rosario and the Vampire.

The figure is of the main character Akashiya,a vampire, sitting on a tombstone swinging a cross pendant. The figure has some realistic qualties like the dress that looks like a shiny PVC dress and real metal for her jewelry. It also has an excellent and vibrant paint job. The different finishes from flat, semi gloss, and gloss really makes this figure stand apart and gives it realism. It also comes with a simple mirrored base. The figure is 1/4 scale but not that tall because of her reclining pose.

Moka Akashiya is hitting U.S. stores in July/August.

Kimonos and Samurai Swords: Shiki Ryougi Garannodou

Posted by admin On February - 8 - 2009

From scooters and kimonos to kimonos and samurai swords… Check out this really nice PVC figure by Good Smile out in Asia for months and finally on it’s way to the U.S. real soon. The figure is of Ryogi Shiki of the Kinoko Nasu book and anime, Kara no Kyoukai. This version of Ryougi Shiki is walking barefoot in a kimono with a samurai sword. Kind of reminds of O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu’s character)  from Kill Bill. The figure looks really high quality and just about perfect. The kimono looks like real cloth even though it’s just PVC. The sculpt has some great curves. The flowing kimono was pulled off really well and subtly shows the body underneath. Even the rope tied around her waist looks so realistic. The intricate patterns and pearly sheen of her kimono really takes this Ryogi Shiki figure to perfection… Gotta have it.

The Takara Tomy GT-R Transformer, Alternity, is out in Asia and should be hitting U.S. shores soon.

It has pretty decent details like clear red parts for tail lights and even disk breaks visible through the wheels. The GT-R is also diecast instead of plastic. It’s available to two colors: silver and red.

The 1/32 Transformer has a  retail price of under $50 converted.

Megahouse is putting a out a gunmetal and black version of the Mospeada figure. You may recognize the Variable Action Mospeada Black Blowsperior from the third story line of Robotech. The motorcyle parts attach to the armor of the characters. Unfortunately it’s gonna be a rare find because its a Tokyo Megahobby Expo 2009 exclusive, but will be available online at the Megahouse Treasure Shop. This figure looks a lot better than a lot of the other Mospeada toys of the past. It’s gonna be a little over $60.

Crazy Gundam Tank Model Kit from Bandai

Posted by admin On February - 6 - 2009

Bandai has a 1/35 conceptual tank from the Gundam universe out. The kit is called the 1/35 EFGF M61A5 Main Batle Tank “Semovente” Phantom Element from the U.C. Hard Graph model series. The tank is from the second episode of the Mobile Suit Gundam MS Igloo: The Hidden One Year War. The concept tank looks like it has a little bit of Bradley and a little bit of Abrams… only a lot bigger and with two huge guns. Look at how small the figures look compared to the tank. The kit itself appears to stand on its own against detailed Dragon and Tamiya kits. It comes with the usual stuff like photetched parts, but has some cool stuff not found in your average kit like tracks made of flexible resin that are linked with actual metal pins and wire cable. It also looks like it has at least three figures. The kit is out now for around $100.

Shunya Yamashita Non-Non Kuro (Black) Version

Shunya Yamashita’a Non-Non is coming back in an alternate BLACK VERSION.

The official name is Creators Labo #012 Kuro Non-non (BLACK) PVC Figure by Yamato. I recently picked up the rerelease of the original light pink version… now this new black version is coming out in July. The thing I like better on this version is the really detailed paint job on the stockings. The original had the same effect, but was too subtle to see since it was light pink. You can really see the realistic highlights and shade with these black stockings. Yamato has released alternate versions of it’s figures before… it shouldn’t change with this one.
